A story was published on the front page of The New York Times regarding the use of vinegar to detect cervical cancer (in particular in developing countries) as part of a special issue on “Small Fixes” in the Science Times section of the paper. The article titled, “Fighting Cervical Cancer with Vinegar and Ingenuity” notes that the procedure using vinegar to detect cervical cancer was developed by experts at the John Hopkins medical school in the 1990s and endorsed last year by the World Health Organization.
