Baseball Game at Spectrum Field (Sunday, March 4)
12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Cost per Person: $75
Grapefruit League Spring Training, a seasonal rite in Florida, roars to life every spring with the iconic sounds of cracking bats, snapping mitts and happy fans. It’s hard to beat a March afternoon in the sun at Spectrum Field, one of the newest venues in the Florida Grapefruit League. For baseball lovers, it doesn’t get much better than this: sunny weather, affordable tickets and unparalleled proximity to the best players in the game. On Sunday, March 4 the game will feature the Toronto Blue Jays vs the Philadelphia Phillies.
Spectrum Field has been the spring training home for the Philadelphia Phillies since 1948. This ballpark has it all, including an attractive Spanish Mediterranean exterior and a fountain plaza landscaped with palm trees. The ballpark also offers some of the best sight lines of any Spring Training ballpark and all the blue-colored seats are angled toward the infield; in fact, the ballpark feels a lot smaller than its 8,500 capacity. Fans can roam the entire ballpark along the main concourse and not miss any of the game action below; the widest variety of concession items and picnic tables will be centered on the third base side and down the left field line. The extremely popular Frenchy’s Tiki Pavilion, a full service bar, is between the bullpens and left field foul pole. The Phillies Spring Training home is one of the few stadiums whose concession stand has imported the team’s local flavor (Philly cheese-steaks, of course) to satisfy homesick fans.
No lunch is provided; food and drink are available for purchase at Spectrum Field.
Minimum Number of People Required: 20
Registration Deadline: January 9, 2018, to ensure all VI members can sit together at the game.
Belleair Country Club (Monday, March 5)

A Gulf Coast paradise and historical landmark, perched on one of the highest points of Clearwater Bay, Belleair Country Club proclaims the first golf course in Florida. The golf courses at Belleair Country Club have been a grand tradition since Donald Ross, the world-renowned golf course architect, designed both 18-hole courses. The splendor remains as he envisioned with the challenge of play an unforgettable experience. The rolling courses with lush landscape, beautifully appointed lakes, ponds and creeks freely flowing are as Donald Ross first intended them to be. Belleair Country Club is situated in the heart of Belleair, a designated Bird Sanctuary, with an ever-changing panorama. The prevalence of wild life, with the golf courses and grounds being their permanent home, are an added delight to the golfer-naturalist. The palm trees gently swaying in the Gulf breezes, with the sun sparkling on the serene waters of Clearwater Bay will enhance all the senses for a game of golf like no other.
Lunch will be provided on the carts. Transportation will not be provided, so carpooling is recommended. Directions to the course are here.
